The Golden Triangle, located at the borders of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos, was originally named for its rich resources but later became a notorious hub for drug trafficking. In 1949, a segment of the Nationalist Army retreated into the region, forming the Yunnan Anti-Communist National Salvation Army under the leadership of General Li Mi, holding their ground in a foreign land for nearly 30 years. "I Live in the 'Artillery Shell Village'" is the 11th volume of the "Taiwan Military Dependents' Village Series Picture Books" published by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Taoyuan City Government. Set against the historical backdrop of Taiwu New Village and the August 23 Artillery Battle, the book translates military village culture and battlefield memories into an easy-to-understand story through the medium of a picture book, making it suitable for parent-child reading and school teaching.
