Through the life experiences, daily routines, and neighborhood stories of eleven long-time residents, the book preserves the living texture of the Xincheng settlement. Combining written narrative with photographic editing, the book presents how old street architecture, shops, interpersonal networks, and local industries continue to exist within the residents' memories. It also allows readers to witness the historical changes, community emotions, and cultural preservation value of Xincheng, Hualien, through personal stories.
