Miva Curation Launch: Between the Sheets
Some books were once considered crimes.
They were banned, burned, and pulled from shelves — yet they never truly disappeared. They transformed into the films, series, and artworks we love today, flowing quietly beneath the surface of culture.
Miva has joined forces with a partner to present Between the Sheets: Turning the Taboo Page — a curation that stands as both teams' shared tribute to literature that dared to cross the line.

What Is This Curation?
"Between the Sheets" is a literary curation built around the axis of taboo — a collection of history's most controversial and boundary-pushing titles. From the anatomy of desire to philosophical depravity, romance and rebellion to the grotesque and macabre, each theme opens a window into the depths of the human mind.
This is an adults-only (18+) curation space — because some knowledge requires a reader who is ready.
Six Themes, Six Forbidden Doors
The Anatomy of Desire
From Lady Chatterley's Lover to The Plum in the Golden Vase, from the Kama Sutra to The Carnal Prayer Mat — these books named what everyone was already thinking, and paid the price for it.

Philosophical Depravity
The Marquis de Sade invented the word "sadism." But what he invented was far more than a word — it was an entire philosophical system that challenged the limits of morality. These books represent the darkest explorations of human thought.

Romance & Rebellion
Lady Chatterley crossed class lines. Ulysses crossed language lines. Fanny Hill crossed every line. All three were banned for it.

Lust With a Punchline
Boccaccio wrote 100 dirty stories while the Black Death raged outside. Li Yu turned Ming dynasty Confucianism into a sex comedy. When satire hits too close, they burn the books. These works wrapped their sharpest critiques in laughter.

The Grotesque & Macabre
Poe's mesmerism, Ranpo's human furniture, Wilde dancing with a severed head — the grotesque is what happens when imagination refuses to stop.

Playing God
Dr. Moreau spliced humans and animals. Titus served his enemies' sons as a banquet. Ulysses rewrote what a novel could even be. These books dared to cross lines that were supposed to be final.

Why Did Miva Create This Curation?
Truly important books know no distinction between the canonical and the forbidden.
These books were banned precisely because they were too real, too direct, too ahead of their time. They said what people were not permitted to say, explored what people were not permitted to explore. Today, many of them have become enduring classics — reborn on Netflix, studied in academia, leaving indelible marks on cultural history.
Between the Sheets is not for shock value — it is so that these works can be known, understood, and respected.
